Downtown Kamloops is where the city’s rich history meets a vibrant, modern lifestyle. As the “centre” of the region, living downtown offers an unmatched walkable experience. Whether you’re walking past along Victoria Street, enjoying retail stores and dining, or taking in the sights and sounds at Riverside Park; this neighborhood is the first choice for those who want to be at the center of it all.
A Neighborhood of Distinct Characteristics
Downtown isn’t just one style of living; it’s divided into several local pockets:
-
The West End: Home to Kamloops’ most prestigious heritage properties. Here, you’ll find beautifully preserved estates with large lots, mature landscaping, and incredible historical charm.
-
The Main Core: Perfect for professionals and retirees, the core features a mix of original character homes, modern condo developments, and modern townhouses, putting you steps away from the city’s best dining and professional services.
-
The Sagebrush Area: Located just south of the downtown bustle, Sagebrush is a highly sought-after family neighborhood. It offers a mix of single-family homes that were constructed in the early 1900’s to recently constructed homes, many of which feature stunning valley views or unique “carriage home” potential.
Lifestyle & Amenities: Everything at Your Doorstep
Living downtown means your car can stay in the garage.
-
Riverside Park: The crown jewel of Kamloops. Enjoy summer evenings with “Music in the Park,” a dip in the Thompson River, or a family afternoon at the splash park, inclusive playground, or ice skating loop.
-
Arts & Culture: You are within walking distance of the Sandman Centre (home of the Blazers), the Kamloops Art Gallery, the Museum, and soon to be home to the new Performing Arts Centre.
-
The Dining District: From the craft brews at The Noble Pig to the boutique shops along Victoria Street and the weekly Farmers’ Market, there is something for everyone.
